The Awards program recognises, rewards and celebrates the gardening achievements of schools, their students and community in existing and newly established school gardens. It is run annually across both metropolitan and regional Victoria.
Now in its 43nd year, the Awards have a long history of bringing gardening skills and the joy of learning to school-aged children through their school gardens.
The Awards are not seeking the biggest or most beautiful school gardens, they encourage all schools with practical student grown gardens that incorporate learning, community and/or well-being into their school yards to enter.
There are a variety of Award categories to enter with nursery vouchers and garden product prizes for schools to win. Award entry presentations/videos are submitted via an online application form from this website.
An Award Presentation Ceremony is held in November at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne to celebrate winning schools’ gardening achievements and announce category, State and Kevin Heinze Perpetual Award winners.
Entries to the 2020 Awards will open on the 2nd March.
